A Personal Loss That Became a Public Mission
Dr. Gerard Elonge-Fobia is a U.S.-based physician who grew up watching the healthcare gap in Cameroon widen. But the moment that changed everything was personal: he lost two close family members to Chronic Renal Failure — not because dialysis was unavailable in the world, but because it was unavailable to them.
That grief became resolve. In March 2026, Dr. Elonge-Fobia convened a founding assembly in Buea, Cameroon and established PEF Medical Foundation — the Patient Empowerment Foundation — with a mandate that is as direct as his grief was: fund the sessions, train the nurses, screen the communities, and never let cost be the reason a patient doesn’t survive.
The Foundation operates from two chapters — a clinical and community chapter in Buea, Cameroon, and a fundraising and partnership chapter registered as a Texas nonprofit in Katy, USA (EIN 42-2594611). Together they form a transatlantic loop: resources raised in the US flow directly to patients on the ground in Cameroon.

Care Is a Right, Not a Privilege
No patient is turned away because of income. Our subsidization program ensures that cost never determines who receives dialysis and who doesn’t.
Radical Transparency
Every donor knows where their money goes. We publish our board, our registrations, and a step-by-step breakdown of how funds reach the patient chair.
Local Expertise, Global Resources
We don’t import solutions. We train Cameroonian nurses, build local capacity, and use US-raised funds to strengthen what’s already there — not replace it.
Prevention First
Treating kidney failure is expensive. Preventing it is possible. Community screening for hypertension and diabetes catches the disease before it becomes fatal — and before dialysis is even needed.

Two legal entities, one shared mission. The Cameroon chapter delivers clinical care on the ground. The US chapter funds it. Together they form a closed loop — resources raised in America become dialysis sessions in Africa.
Buea, South West Region
The founding chapter. Runs hemodialysis units, conducts community screening campaigns, trains local medical staff, and delivers direct patient care to Cameroonians with Chronic Renal Failure.
Katy, Texas
The US arm raises funds, secures grants, builds partnerships, and provides the financial infrastructure that keeps the clinical programs in Cameroon running without interruption.
